CFBW Bird Tour
I went on my very first bird tour, I think I'm hooked. Chuck Blakely, of CFBW Enterprises, Inc., is a wonderful tour guide. He's knowledgeable, experienced, patient and just plain fun to be with. I signed up for a full day tour and I'm glad I bought extra memory cards for my camera. We went to four or five different places and each of them had something special to share. My favorite spot on the tour was Scrub Jay Trail. Chuck took the picture above with me and two Florida Scrub Jays. Can it get any better than this?
The Scrub Jay is a threatened species endemic to Florida. Habitat loss makes this bird vulnerable to extinction. They live in the bushes that grow after a fire, preferring scrub bushes between six and ten feet tall. Conservationists are attempting to save the Florida Scrub Jay by creating new habitat through controlled burns.
Next time I'm going to request Chuck's Personalized Outdoor Photography Guide Services, I better buy more flash cards.

Wow, that is awesome to have those Jays on your like that! I can see exactly why you would be hooked and so when is your next trip? You going to be showing more pictures since we know you filled all your media cards up?
That looks like an awesome trip...kinda reminds me of when I went bird banding in TX. It was a group of students from the college I was attending. I didn't hold anything, but one of the professors suggested that I help with a cardinal (they're rather agressive!) I tried to keep him occupied with a stick while my friend untangled him from the mist net...he didn't care about me or the stick though. LOL!
Oh and I had a bunch of Lorakeets land on me at Busch Gardens once...it was odd because I didn't have any food (a normal requirement for such an honor!) The went after DH too, but DD was too scared and after she saw my bite she was sure that she never wants them to land on her.
Oh that part of FL is really close to my Mom's place...for now...she wants to move here.
WOW what a shot! I just love your new blog design too. Fantastic!
How in the world did you do that!
It's so good to see you -- I've really missed you. :)
Wow! That's so neat! You are so brave.. I'd be too "chicken" :-)
So glad to have you back!
I miss reading your posts.

That is very cool, Barbara. I've never known any wild birds to actually alight on people, other than pigeons.
Awesome!! I'll have to see if we have anything like that around here!
Awesome! We used to live up on the ridge and had scrub jays that lived in our backyard. They were the friendliest birds. Just hold out your hand and they would fly right to you. I think the trail where you were is just a little north of where we lived. We are further south now...almost to the Everglades.
I'm so glad that you are blogging again. You have been missed.
It sounds like a fun trip, glad you had fun. Wow five extra memory cards that is a LOT of pictures lol.
To have a wild bird perched on you on a bird-watch tour is fantastic... to have two, awesome!
To be able to take photos of that happening, priceless!
Ohhhh my! You were just IN your element, weren't you?! That is so COOL! And it's cool having you BACK too! Weird thing though... My Google Reader does NOT show me your new posts -- but it does show me PICTURES that are NOT on your blog! WEIRD!!!
The one on top of your head looks like it's building a nest.
A stunner of a picture. So well captured.
It's time for you to post again!!!
I am SOOOOOO confused! My google reader keeps showing that you have updated or posted something new... but when I come here... nope. Nothing new. And why ISN'T there anything new? You got this great new look! Pleeeeeeeease use it!

your frustrated friend
Nice, nice, nice and nice, Barabara!
You are Master!
Thank you.
I wish that I can have eagle doing the pose like the one in the picture :)
That's a beautiful bird. Did it actually land on your hand? How I wish I could do that too.
Like your blog.
I'm glad you explained the photo...I would have thought it was a way cool hat in the Easter parade. I thought about you today. Hope it was a great family day for you.
Hi, Barbara! That's a great shot and it sounds like a wonderful tour!!
Exceptional photograph. We wish we could join you on the next trip. You didn't mention the cost?
Nice photography.
Abraham Lincoln in Brookville, Ohio.
This looks like fun, but to tell you the truth I am content to see the birds on you rather than have them perch on me.
No wonder the little guys are on the verge of extinction. The odds of survival must plummet pretty fast for any "wild" animal willing to get that cozy with a human.
That is so neat. :-)
How are your Exercising for Comments efforts coming??? I am trying to concentrate more on doing this. :-)
Yoooooooo hoooooooo! Where arrrrrre you???
New blog looks great!! I love the idea of a bird tour. Lucky duckie! :)
Hey, Barb! How are you doing? Long time, no blog. Everything going OK, or at least decently?
Dropping by to say hello.
Hi, Barbara!! hope you are doing great. I see your pics on flickr, miss your posts!
Hello Barbara.
I have not seen any posts here and wonder if you have stopped blogging entirely or do you have a new site I can stop by.
Miss your posts. Hope all is well and you and family are doing fine. Take care.
I'm still here, keeping a low profile.
Hi there!
I adore the bird photographs! Reminds me of my time in Queensland, Australia, living in open country.
I'm actually a haiku poet/Brit friend of Andrew Lockhart's and thought I'd mention an amazing new book on birds with haiku.
Snapshot Press are possibly going to make a series, and this one is going to be a classic!
