Photo Hunt #41 Wild

PSHunt
Jack PineHere's the jack pine tree I was telling you about the other day. The wild weather has taken a toll on this tree.  The weight of the ice from the ice storm and the subsequent snow has bent the tree completely over.  There is no sign of a thaw in sight either.  I hope the tree will right itself when we get milder weather.  If it survives I might have to stake it, even though the tree is fifteen to twenty feet tall.

I had a huge tree (about 200 foot) fall down in my backyard about ten years ago. What a mess! I had nightmares about it for weeks afterwards.

Shame about your tree - it looks quite beautiful.

Mine is up....Happy Saturday, Barb!

Ice storms over there, tropical storms over here. Tough weather we're having for some reason.

Hope all is well there. No power cuts at your neck of the woods is good to hear.

I'm anxious to know the outcome of the birds in Australia you mentioned and will be back here again to find out what happened.

Since its cold out there, here's a minute for your exercise.

That's a great photo! We just had a bad storm/hurricane two days ago here in Germany. Maybe you heard that in the news. Some trees just didn't stand the wind and broke down. One lays directly on the way to our carpark!!! I really was a little frightened when we had that storm. I can't remember when we had it the last time. I guess I was a little child.

My photo is up too. Please stop by my blog and have a look!!

Have a nice weekend,
Sonny
I will exercise for comments!!

Hope it rights itself too. I had a wind storm blow down a section of my privacy fence 6 years ago and bend a crepe myrtle over like this pine tree of yours. Got the fence builders out here and after they were done I kind of used a bungee cord to help hold the wounded myrtle to the fence for some support. These days Myrtle is thriving...when it's not icy and snowy that is...beautifully. Every year we get beautiful lavender colored blooms all over her. Smile.

re: Darly's alias...

usually we refer to our children as DD or DS for Dear Daughter or Dear Son.

My middle name means Dear Little One.

So the alias is my middle name shortened. Darly actually HATES it. She would rather I use part of her name. But I would rather be safe.

I hate to tell you this, but this tree will not likely right itself. At this point, the root ball is involved and the roots are not nearly as elastic as the wood in the trunk. Even after the thaw (you know, the one after Mother's day:), the tree will stay in the horizontal position. It will probably even continue to live for awhile in that state. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
